PATH responds to COVID-19

Our role in responding

As COVID-19 spreads around the world, we are working to lessen its impact. Our experts are partnering with governments to establish emergency operations centers; advise on testing, treating, and managing the outbreak; and stand up digital and data systems that support real-time disease surveillance. To speed our response, PATH is temporarily pulling staff from other projects, such as malaria elimination and HIV advocacy.

Examples of our efforts:

  • Supporting COVID-19 surveillance measures in Senegal by utilizing existing surveillance systems developed for Ebola and malaria.
  • Providing technical assistance to help emergency operations centers in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Senegal, and Vietnam prepare for COVID-19.
  • Developing data visualization dashboards and mapping tools that enable targeted response.
  • Partnering with the CDC to develop online COVID-19 case investigation forms in Vietnam in accordance with WHO and Ministry of Health guidelines.
